H!P Egg short history & member review

June 22, 2008

Hello! Project Eggs are audition winners who get free training to develop their potential as idols. Until spring 2006 they were mostly featured as background dancers in Hello! Project concerts, but since then they have got more chances to perform in different kinds of units, new member concerts, stage plays and so on.

The first audition for H!P EGGs was in 2004 when 32 girls were chosen (1st generation). Another audition was held in 2006 with 3 successful applicants (2nd generation). Kikkawa Yuu, who made it to final 4 in Morning Musume 8th gen audition, later joined H!P Eggs (3rd generation). In June 2008, three new H!P Eggs were introduced at a new member concert (4th generation).

THE Possible (THEポッシボー)

July 3, 2007

THE Possible

THE Possible is a TNX unit that consists of six former Hello! Project Eggs: Akiyama Yurika, Goto Yuki, Hashimoto Aina, Morozuka Kanami, Okada Robin Shoko and Oose Kaede. THE Possible’s name was first used when the three original members, Yurika, Aina and Kanami were starring in Tsunku Town’s play “CRY FOR HELP! ~Uchuu Station chikaku no baiten ni te~” in August 2006. The October 2006 issue of ISHIMARU DASH featured not only the three original members, but also Kaede. The article included a hint that more girls might be added to the unit. When “Young DAYS!!” was first released, a limited version with four members, Yurika, Aina, Kanami and Robin, was available. Eventually it turned out that the unit had actually six members. Since then the member roster has remained the same.

THE Possible is officially TNX’s unit and a part of Nice Girl Project, but because the girls used to be H!P Eggs, the unit also has ties to the rest of Hello! Project. They have performed at some Hello! Project concert tours (as backdancers or as their own unit). However, as a TNX group THE Possible hasn’t been able to enjoy the same benefits that new H!P units generally do: for example, the stages that THE Possible has been performing on are in smaller venues than the ones H!P units have access to. They also haven’t been invited to any of the major music shows on TV, whereas for example C-ute’s first major single Sakura Chirari earned them an invite to Music Fighter. Shortly put, THE Possible has been more ‘indie’ than H!P units.

Musicwise THE Possible offers the same kind of catchy upbeat songs that H!P fans are familiar with.

In October 2007, the members officially graduated Hello! Project Eggs to become full-time Nice Girl Project members.

THE Possible’s first major debut single “Kazoku e no tegami” will be released on 2008/04/30.
